Opening and playing movies

You can open all or part of a movie. Partial movies open and play more quickly, because your computer has less data to process at one time.

The movie controls let you play a movie, rewind to the beginning, fast forward to the end, or stop at any frame. You can also step forward or backward through a movie one frame at a time, or jump to a specific frame.


To open a movie

Click File Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Open.

Choose the folder where the movie is stored.

Click the filename.

From the list box next to the Files of type list box (Windows XP) or the Partial load list (Windows Vista), choose one of the following:
Partial load
Full image
If you choose Partial load, in the Partial load movie dialog box type values in the From and To boxes to specify the range of frames you want to open.

You cannot choose Partial load for QuickTime VR movies.

To use movie playback controls

Do one of the following
Play a movie
Click Movie Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Play movie.
Stop a movie
Click Movie Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Stop movie.
Rewind to the beginning of a movie
Click Movie Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Rewind to beginning.

Fast forward to the end of a movie

Click Movie Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Advance to end.
Move to a different frame
Click Movie Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Go to frame and, type a frame number in the Frame box.
Move forward one frame
Click Movie Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Advance one frame.
Move back one frame
Click Movie Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Rewind one frame.

You can also use the controls in the Movie docker to play, stop, rewind, fast forward, step forward a frame, or step back a frame in a movie. If the Movie docker is not open, click Window Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Dockers Photo Paint onestep Opening and playing movies Movie.
 
You can also move to a specific frame by double-clicking the thumbnail of a frame in the Movie docker.
